How to get there?

Road directions
The guesthouses are located approximately 350 km (3.5 hours) southwest of Tashkent and 200 km (2 hours) northwest of Samarkand. The ancient fortress town of Nurata is about 130 km due west and the regional capital Djizak about 100 km due east. Djizak town lies directly on the main highway linking Tashkent to Samarkand. The road through the future Nuratau-Kyzylkum Biosphere Reserve from Djizak to Nurata links to the main highway to Bukhara. Thus the guesthouses can be visited on-route from Tashkent to either Samarkand or Bukhara.

A passably, and scenic, but poor road over a mountain pass connects directly to Samarkand. It is possible to hire cars from major centres such as Djizak, Samarkand or Nurata. Taxis to the next regional centre are available even within the villages. Very early in the morning also buses go to and leave from the guesthouse villages. Access to guest houses in the mountain valleys from the main road is via short tracks of sometimes poor quality but most are reachable by non 4x4 vehicles.

Directions from Tashkent:
•    Driving from Tashkent in the direction to Samarqand on M39.
•    First right turn to Djizzak (land mark: a big ugly monument at the turn).
•    Turn right after 10 km behind a small police check-point.
•    After 25 km turn right at a T-cross road. Drive through the ‘gate’ of a police check-point.
•    Straight after passing Yangikishlok/Forish village (after 47 km) there is a fork – take the left road towards Nurata.

Directions to guesthouses in Uhum (Bahrom Kasymov) and Hayat (Sattor Ahmedov):
•    After the fork in the road close to Yangikishlok/Forish drive straight for 37 km until a big blue signboard displays ‘Uhum’ (do not confuse with a small white signboard located 3-4 km before the big sign).
•    Turn left to the paved road at the stone bus-stop and drive 4-5 km.

Directions to Hayat:
- Turn right towards a steep valley and drive 3 km up the unpaved road.

Directions to Uhum:
- Drive to the end of the paved road, where several local stores are located.

Further, if you are not with someone who knows the place well, ask for directions. The places are accessible even with microbuses. Four wheel drive vehicle are, however, recommended.

Directions to the guesthouse at Sentyab (Gulmurod Zarifullaev):
•    After the fork in the road close to Yangikishlok/Forish drive straight 48 km! Pass the  Navoi province borders until a signboard displays ‘Sentyab’.
•    After turning left to the paved road drive 5-8 km.

Further, if you are not with someone who knows the place well, ask for directions! The places are accessible even with microbuses. Four wheel drive vehicle are, however, recommended.

Directions from Samarqand:
•    Drive from Samarqand towards Djizzah
•    Look for ‘Farish Ostanovka’ and drive from this place towards Farish/Yangikishlok (Yangikishlok is the administrative center of Farish region).
•    Straight after passing Yangikishlok/Forish village there is a fork in the road – take the left road towards Nurata.

Directions to guesthouses in Uhum (Bahrom Kasymov) and Hayat (Sattor Ahmedov):

Directions from Bukhara:
•    Drive from Bukhara in to direction of Navoi!
•    In Navoi turn to Nurata!
•    At the roundabout in Nurata take the left road towards Farish/ Djizzah!
•    28 km after Nurata at the road junction with the signboard Kyzylcha-Farish- Djizzah. turn right

Directions to the guesthouse in Sentyab (Gulmurod Zarifullaev):
•    Drive straight 105km from the road junction in the direction towards Farish until the roadside sign showing Sentyab (not reaching the border between Navoi and Djizzah provinces)
•    Turn right to the paved road and drive 5-8km.

To the guesthouses in Uhum (Bahrom Kasymov) and in Hayat (Sattor Ahmedov):
•    Drive 117 km straight from the road junction towards Farish (passing the border between Navoi and Djizzakh provinces) until a big blue signboards says Uhum village.
•    Turn right and drive 4-5 km through the paved road.

Directions to Hayat:
- Turn right towards a steep valley and drive 3 km up the unpaved road.

Directions to Uhum:
- Drive to the end of the paved road, where several local stores are located.
